This site is dedicated to the memory of Anne Wood.

Anne Wood was born in Hinckley, Leicestershire, UK on March 26, 1941. She is much loved and will always be remembered by all her friends and family. She passed away peacefully on May 10, 2014, after several months in hospital. Unfortunately, the remaining family didn't get the chance to discuss with her what she wanted us, and her friends, to support in her memory, but as a family, we feel that the National Foundation for Youth Music is something she would approve of. Music was important to Anne throughout her life. As a young girl, she won prizes for dancing. Later in life, as a WREN, she began making music herself, joining various service bands. After completing her time with the WRENs, and after bringing my brother and myself into the world, she started work at a playgroup, and found her true calling - that of supporting young people. She began a connection to the Scouting Association that would last for forty years from Assistant Cub Scout Leader, through Akela, then into Leader Training and Young Leader Support. She also found time to give to the Gosport and Fareham Area Youth Orchestra, although not for as long (Probably only ten years or so, I took over that role for a while). Somewhere in that time, she also joined the HMS Collingwood Volunteer Band, where, despite being wheelchair-bound, she played in many concerts and supported them in Marching Band competitions.
